Uconica is a queer-owned apparel brand. Joyful, campy, pop-culture obsessed. Deeply unserious, extremely on purpose.
Why I started it
Spanglish at the dinner table. A slasher I was too young to rent. Video games with my cousins and half the block. A bike I kept falling off. Then drag, camp, and my own queerness, which arrived late and immediately started redecorating. That was all one kid, and every store wanted him to pick one of those and wear it by itself. That is a whole personality and it was going completely unmerchandised. So I merchandised it.
What I make
Tees, tanks, crop tops, hoodies, mugs and bags built on the references that mark you as one of us. Drag, horror, comedy, Pride, Latino sayings you grew up hearing, retro gaming, and the movies and TV you quote at parties. The things people file away as a niche, I put on the front of the shirt.
It is one shop, run out of New York by one person who should probably be asleep. Not a big label bolting a rainbow onto June, and not a consultancy's guess at what our community finds funny. Nothing here was focus-grouped.
Printed to order
Every piece is printed after you order it. No dead stock, no end-of-season bin, and no committee deciding a weird idea has to sell a thousand units before it is allowed to exist.
Sizing you can actually trust
My size chart carries real measurements for every blank I print on, and it says out loud which ones run small instead of letting you find out. If I still get it wrong, the First Fit Promise sends the right size free and you keep the first one.
